How to Maintain Long and Short Straight Hair

If you love straight hair, you understand the pain of getting frizzy hair or waking up, and your slayed straight hair disappeared overnight. Being able to maintain straight hair for a week, two, or three is possible.

In this article, I will give you some tips on how you can maintain straight hair, including how to sleep with straight hair.

Use Anti-Frizz Hair Oils

Use Hair oils to avoid frizz on your straight hairstyles.

Oils are important because they will aid in minimizing humidity from penetrating your hair and causing frizz.

Nourish your scalp at least once a week to avoid having a dry scalp.

Avoid Water Getting into your Hair

Protect your hair while showering or washing your face by wearing a shower cap and a headband.

These combinations will ensure your hair is tight and fully protected from water.

Make sure the headband is tight, thick, and wide.

Avoid Touching Your Hair Unnecessarily

Try your best to avoid touching your hair constantly.

Every time you are touching the hair, especially since hands have natural moisture and oils, you are bringing moisture to the hair and frizz. You will end up ruining the straight hairstyle within days.

If you have to touch the hair, at least make sure your hands are dry.

Tie Your Hair when Chilling at Home

While chilling in the house, especially during summer, try to tie a middle bun with big scrunchies.

Nothing tight so that you don’t ruin the straight hair. Tying your hair up will help avoid sweat from the neck getting into the hair.

How to Sleep with Long and Short Straight Hair

Various ways to Tie your Straight Hair while Sleeping

  1. Short Hair

Section your hair in two.

Detangle the hair using a Tooth Comb, especially if you have worn it the whole day. Make sure you are gentle with the ends.

Apply hair oil on the ends. Use Proclaim Glossing Polish since it will not weigh your hair down and will add a great shine to your hair.

You can apply it every day when you go to bed.

Gather the hair, push it to the back and hold it in a pony.

Bring the pony in front of your head. Make sure all the hair is held in. You can use Curved Bobby Pins to pin the ends in place.

Grab a silk scarf and wrap it around your head, nicely and tight.

  1. Long Straight Hair

The Cross Wrap

The Cross Wrap hair

Divide the hair into two sections.

Hold the sections separately with your hands, bring them back, and criss-cross them over: take the left section and bring it to the left and the left section to the right.

Once you have the two sections crossed at the back, bring them forward to the top of your head.

Try to keep the hair as flat as possible.

Once they are on the upper top of the head, criss-cross them.

Hold everything together with a pin, then grab the double-sided bonnet and cover your hair gently.

Cyclone wrap

Examine the ends and apply a Proclaim Glossing Polish to add shine and protect your ends.

Create a deep side part.

Comb the hair and detangle until it is flat.

Take a section of the hair from the side part with less hair and flip it over to the side with more hair.

Take another section and brush it over to the side with more hair.

Continue brushing as you wrap your hair around in a cyclone direction.

Ensure it is flat, then wrap it with a Silk Scarf.

Pin Curling.

Pin Curling.

Split your hair into four sections.

Take one section of the hair and finger comb the hair upwards.

Hold the section straight up, wrap it around your index finger, and roll it from the edges towards the roots. Make sure when rolling it to the roots the curls are tight.

Flip the curl to the top of your head and pin it.

Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the sections.

Remember, with pin curls, you must wear a silk scarf to make sure they are tight and will stay put the whole night.

With this technique, bonnets can do the work but won’t hold the hair tight enough the whole night. Hence, I recommend a Silk Scarf.
