What is Knotless Soft Locs? Pricing Details and the Installation Process

What is Knotless Soft Locs and the Difference Between Soft Locs and Faux Locs

Soft Locs are a type of locs installed using crochet locs and synthetic hair extensions such as passion twists. Knotless Soft Locs are acquired by braiding the hair from the roots and later installing the locs one inch after braiding and wrapping it using passion twists. (I have a detailed explanation below with a video).

Soft Locs are soft, lightweight, and natural looking. Whereas faux locs are stiff, less soft, and lightweight.

Installing Soft Locs is the easiest way to acquire locs on your hair without going fully permanent with locs.

Parting for Medium Knotless Braids

Pro Tip: Always use Shine ‘n Jam and Parting Tail Comb to get clear partying

  • Make an ear-to-ear parting so that you have two equal sections; the front and back sections.
  • Using the back section, make three more sections: ear-to-ear sections.
  • So now that you have three sections to work with on your backside, we will make rows in each section.
  • The rows should be medium sizes and parted in a box method. (Refer to the video below to check the sizing and parting technique only. For the braiding Process, refer to the next video).

Braiding Process for Knotless Soft Locs

  • Take a parted box section and braid it for an inch ( if you have long hair).
  • Take the soft loc and put one of the strands of the braids through the lock. Then take that strand of hair and connect it with another strand of hair that was used for the braiding. You will use the lock as part of the three strands and continue braiding as normal.
  • Make sure you end up with a braid mixed with the loc. Also, braid it until the end of your natural hair.
  • The next step will incorporate wrapping the braided loc.
  • Take a spring twist hair and split it into three or four. We need a small section to have a clean and smooth wrapping that blends with the soft loc. The spring twist should be half or ¾ less than the soft loc braid.
  • Crochet the section into the roots of the braid. It helps to secure the wrapping process.  You will have three strands. Two spring twists sections and the soft loc braid.
  • Wrap the twists around the soft loc braid. Wrap it around two to three times, securing at the roots and having a good foundation.
  • After that, continue wrapping a little loose around the soft loc. Also, when you are at least three inches, leave some space while wrapping to get that beautiful soft locs look.
  • Make a knot when there is an inch left of wrapping spring twist. Then continue wrapping the left inch until the end.
  • You will end up with a beautiful soft loc without gluing the ends.
  • Repeat the same procedure for the rest of the parted box sections.
  • When done braiding the soft locs, apply Camille Rose Spiked Honey Mousse.

It will help hold the hair, giving it a shine and a relaxing feeling.
