How to make your Short and Long Curls Stay Overnight

When it comes to sleeping and maintaining curly hair, your routine matters. Please don’t let your gorgeous curls disappear overnight because you do not have a curly hair routine to protect them while sleeping. As a beginner, it is important to learn and introduce effective techniques that will maintain your curls and maintain moisture and products on your curls.

Simple Techniques to Help your Curls Stay Overnight

Loose pineapple bun

The loose pineapple bun is a common technique used to tie hair up in a bun and avoid tangling the curls while you sleep. It can be used for both short and long curls. If you have long curls, pull your hair forwards and tie them in a loss ban at the top of your head. Always use Silk Scrunchies because they minimize friction between your curls and leave the hair optimally moisturized and shiny. I guarantee you will wake up with those perfect curls in the morning.  If you have short hair it is advisable to split your hair into two parts and form two pineapples. First, pin the bottom pineapple up to ensure it does not fall down. Then tie the front pineapple in a loose bun.

Always use a Silk Pillow.

A silk pillow is a necessary accessory for any curly girl. If you use silk pillowcases while sleeping, they will help to hold your curls in place or minimize curl damage when you glide on the pillow. Silk Pillowcases are also very good at absorbing moisture and adding a slight body to your hair so it isn’t as frizzy during the night. The method is great when you like to sleep with your hair down, with a scarf on or a bonnet.

Sleep with a silk bonnet.

Typically sleeping with a bonnet can be uncomfortable to certain people, however picking the right bonnet can help you adjust easily to the routine. Adjustable Double Lined Silk Bonnets are the best because they have adjustable and stretchable head sizes for comfortable wear. They will also make your hair frizz-free and tangle-free.

First, tie your hair with a scrunchie in a middle ponny and stretch the bonnet downwards, over the length of your curls. Press the end of your curls gently up towards your scalp to gather it all into the bonnet. If your hair is short you can use the two-part pineapple method discussed above then tuck your hair into the bonnet. Pure silk bonnets do not tug or tangle the curls, resulting in less hair breakage and hair loss. Also, when sleeping, the bonnet will glide off easily and prevent split ends with ease.

Tie a Satin Scarf

Tying a Satin Scarf around curly hair overnight is also an alternative to protecting your hair from getting tangled in the morning. Fold the scarf into half to create a triangle, then place it at the back of your head and wrap it around while the pointed section faces away from your body. Secure the top with a knot and also at the back, then tuck all of your curls into the scarf. The method is effective in holding all your curls together into the scarf and reduces frizzing while you sleep.

Medusa Clipping

Medusa Clipping is a great way to protect your curls overnight and add volume to the hair especially for short curly ladies. You will need a scrunchie and small claw clips. Separate your hair into two halves and tie the front part in a pineapple pony. Then, take a few layers of the hair in your pony and clip them with the claw clips making sure the edge of the clip is resting on the scalp. Please be gentle with the clipping. Repeat the process until all sections in your front pony are clipped. Do not clip the back section of your hair to avoid pulling the hair and destroying the curl. Wear a bonnet and you’re good for the night.

Wet Plopping your hair overnight with a Microfiber Hair Towel Wrap

Plopping is also an effective technique used to define and enhance curls patterns overnight. Wet the hair and apply your favorite curly hair products, then pick a Microfiber Hair Towel Wrap and tie it over the hair, making sure everything is secured. Let it stay overnight and the next morning you will have perfect curls. However, this is not an everyday routine, you can do it twice a week.
